Today’s word was ‘Proprietor’, Isaiah 64:8-type of reference, only I am the Real Estate property and He is The Proprietor. I found myself wondering down the rabbit hole of Proverbs 23:7 and realized like in the movie, “Hondo, ‘Swimming Lesson'”, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIJrIuLwjM8, the kid made his own definition of himself as someone who can’t swim. This was then ratified by the boy’s mother, but after a quick assessment by John Wayne’s character, it was time to change that way of thinking.
Proverbs tends to leave people where they are at, a muddied fountain and a polluted spring, etc. Proverbs 25:26. Should we be left to the limits of ourselves in our minds, we would mimic those in America. They show their inheritance of madness to the world as they seek to live out fleeting desires.
I then turned to Ephesians 5:8. Praise the Lord, we are children of Light! We see that we are not left as polluted springs. For Jesus lead the Samaritan woman from that life to one that gushed forth Living Water, John 4:4–42. Jesus again, using a Samaritan, marked the change in his parable of ‘the Good Samaritan’ Luke 10:30-37.
John Wayne’s character ‘threw the baby into the (bath) pond water’ and taught him to swim. That boy changed his mind from limiting thoughts to those that would forever change his story. Jesus took it even a step further than merely learning to swim, Matthew 14:25-33. Like Peter, if we keep our eyes on Jesus, He may lead us to walk on water.
